Matching of Compressed Patterns with Character-Variables

چکیده
We consider the problem of finding an instance of a string-pattern s in a given string under compression by straight line programs (SLP). The variables of the string pattern can be instantiated by single characters. This is a generalisation of the fully compressed pattern match, which is the task of finding a compressed string in another compressed string, which is known to have a polynomial time algorithm. We mainly investigate patterns s that are linear in the variables, i.e. variables occur at most once in s, also known as partial words. We show that fully compressed pattern matching with linear patterns can be performed in polynomial time. A polynomial-sized representation of all matches and all substitutions is also computed. Also, a related algorithm is given that computes all periods of a compressed linear pattern in polynomial time. A technical key result on the structure of partial words shows that an overlap of h + 2 copies of a partial word w with at most h holes implies that w is strongly periodic. 1998 ACM Subject Classification F.2.2 Nonnumerical Algorithms and Problems, F.4.2 Grammars and Other Rewriting Systems

Deterministic Compressed Sensing Matrices from Additive Character Sequences
Compressed sensing is a novel technique where one can recover sparse signals from the undersampled measurements. In this correspondence, a K×N measurement matrix for compressed sensing is deterministically constructed via additive character sequences. The Weil bound is then used to show that the matrix has asymptotically optimal coherence for N = K, and to present a sufficient condition on the ...
متن کاملText matching of strings in terms of straight line program by compressed aleshin type automata
In this paper we are checking the equivalence of any given text of strings is represented by a straight line program (SLP) with model text. For a given SLP-compressed Aleshin type automata D of size n and height h representing m patterns of total length N, we present an O (n log N)-size representation of Aho-Corasick automaton which recognizes all occurrences of the patterns in D in amortized O...
متن کاملObservations On Compressed Pattern-Matching with Ranked Variables in Zimin Words
Zimin words are very special finite words which are closely related to the pattern-avoidability problem. This problem consists in testing if an instance of a given pattern with variables occurs in almost all words over any finite alphabet. The problem is not well understood, no polynomial time algorithm is known and its NP-hardness is also not known. The pattern-avoidability problem is equivale...
متن کاملThe Complexity of Two-dimensional Compressed Pattern Matching
We study computational complexity of two-dimensional compressed pattern matching problems. Among other things, we design an eecient randomized algorithm for the equality problem of two compressed two-dimensional patterns as well as prove computational hardness of the general two-dimensional compressed pattern matching .
متن کاملHandwritten Character Recognition using Modified Gradient Descent Technique of Neural Networks and Representation of Conjugate Descent for Training Patterns
The purpose of this study is to analyze the performance of Back propagation algorithm with changing training patterns and the second momentum term in feed forward neural networks. This analysis is conducted on 250 different words of three small letters from the English alphabet. These words are presented to two vertical segmentation programs which are designed in MATLAB and based on portions (1...
